Pain
Sometimes it's almost funny how we can get hurt from the most unexpected quarters. Something which we never even think of everyday and take for granted can spring the biggest of all surprises. Pain when ignored just goes away, but when you concentrate fully on the act of getting hurt and give the pain its full deserving attention, it is amazing how painful pain can be. Almost life stopping.
Stupid pinkie toe. A whole Seinfeld episode has been dedicated to it and still, it refuses to leave humans in peace.
Yesterday, I just finished vacuuming, switched off the lights and was turning to leave the room, when my left pinkie toe very nicely snagged and caught the bed edge. Initially I did not feel anything - just anger that my walk from the inside of the room to outside was disturbed. That's when signals from my toe traveled and reached all the way to my brain. "Buddy, you cannot ignore me. My only purpose in still being a preserved part of the human body is to keep reminding you not to ignore me and if you do forget, I will stub myself and somehow, magically, you also feel the pain".
I cannot recall such levels of pain in the near or distant past. M immediately knew something was up when I yelped and did some first aid to ease the damage. But the deed had been done. Wonderful, seeping pain enveloped my whole leg and refused to go as I tried to balance the pain by watching some wonderfully inept acting in Home Alone 2. Pinkie toe won but.
Today, putting my pants on was one thing; putting my socks was something, but wearing shoes was something else.

Looks like hurting your toe has given you a new dimension to pain.
