TNPCEE saga continues

Even after announcing the decision to scrap CET, chaos reigns supreme in TN. As usual petitions and cases have been made against the ruling. I do not know if this was done for the actual betterment of the candidates.

Types of people who are still left in the dark:
1. Those who wrote improvement exams this time.
2. Of course, OC candidates (gets screwed royally every time, this time it does'nt make a difference)
3. CBSE students - sigh!

*sudden crazy thought!*

Jaadhigal illayadi Paappa
- apadinna, reservationum irukka koodadhu.

1. If this is utopia, and all were treated equally (either equally high or equally low), would we care if there is an entrance exam or not?.
2. Since this is hypothetically utopia, what if all exams were made open-book and competitive. Would'nt it make things a lot better - quality wise?.
3. What if there is a good counselling system for all disciplines (not just Engineering and Medicine).? Natural selection would play its part and the Normal bell-shaped curve would take up its role again.
4. What if the parents are ALSO counselled to understand that it is NOT a stigma for their wards to do something else - serious sports, arts, journalism. (Not that these are not available, but not a lot of parents allow their children to pursue these actively - "veylaikku aavaadhu". I personally know a friend of mine who had to give up his sporting skills on account of 10th board exams). Even amongst us, a lot of us have been "forced" to take up a certain field. Maybe we are doing well now - but doesn't that prove that given time and hard work one can excel in a random field?. So, why not start at the right field of interest?
5. We would not be having hundreds of engineers loitering around after graduation - working in unrelated jobs, wasting their hard-earned degree.

Already it is agreed that this century would belong to Asia. I am sure by our sheer number, we would make an impact. Maybe we can make that impact more profound.

*snap back to reality*

Sigh!

  • Ram: I hope there would be a revolution created in the education system. There are so many institutions running only for making money. Do you recall the Rai university which was closed down recently?

  • My Question:

Before they passed this motion, was this raised in the assembly. Who voted for it? Who didn't.? Did they consult anyone outside the assembly?

What to do : We elect AH's for MLA's and MP's who just don't care.!

  • Narayanan: Assembly?, motion?, come on.. she dictates terms..

Even if there is such a thing called vote-for-motion:

the satta sabhai consists of MLAs belonging to ADMK (majority), who are ALL vying for CM's attention to get a ministers' berth next time. So, obviously they will ALL vote for yes. Since it was a land slide victory for JJ last general elections, opposition numbers are very less (all inclusive). And btw, PMK and MDMK were actually FOR the motion. Go figure.

  • Ennai kettaa, abolish all examsnu solluven, at least the ones that follow the current line of questioning for facts without knowing the "understanding" behind them. Ippo irukkara systemlerndu veliye varavanga "as long as we mix two parts of Hydrogen to one part of oxygen, we can always create water" nu sollittu thaan vara poraanga :-)

  • d reservation system breeds complacence.in my opinion the only basis for reservation must be- 1.for tribals 2.for people below the poverty line, and not based on what caste they come from

the rest must be admitted based only on merit...

btw yes, there are lot of taboo's relating to esp. men seeking alternative employment.plus the remuneration in lets say journalism,is simply not good enough.i have just finished my pg diploma in journalism...but i am going 2 do hrm corres as a back up...until i get a remunerative break...i am planning 2 do journalism only parttime...why blame parents all of us are used 2 a certain lifestyle and we want 2 sustain it.gr8 article btw

  • Thennavan: LOL.. in-organic chemistry equations a mug adikara azhagey thani.. hmm.. i was reading some article in kumudam reporter - how some students scored 1058/1200 (not enough), and wrote improvement by "working hard" and scored 1134. 1 year wait panni mug adicha mark jasthiyaa thaan varum. :-)

Siddharth: hmm.. suppose the reservation is only for tribals and financially challenged people, jaadhi katchi thalaivars would simply pressure the coalition govt. to "reduce" their caste status to that of SC/ST. Oh, yeah - they would produce ample researched evidence to achieve it. So, something more drastic has to be done, and yet deserving people should be benifited.
Nice to see that you have not joined the rat race and are trying to do things differently. Wish you all the best!
